What Length Abaya Do I Need? Abaya Sizes by Height (UK)

in Oct 20, 2026

Quick answer: pick your length by height. At AMIRIS: 4ft11 and under wears XS | 50, 5ft – 5ft2 wears S | 52, 5ft3 – 5ft5 wears M | 54, 5ft6 – 5ft8 wears L | 56, 5ft9 – 5ft11 wears XL | 58, and 6ft and above wears 2XL | 60. Wearing heels adds about 2 inches.

Why are abayas sized 50 to 60?

The number is the length of the abaya in inches, measured from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the neck, down to the hem. Most abayas are cut loose through the body, so length is the measurement that decides whether it looks right. On our site the sizes show as XS | 50, S | 52, M | 54, L | 56, XL | 58 and 2XL | 60.

How do I measure myself?

  1. Stand straight in the shoes you plan to wear.
  2. Ask someone to measure from the top of your shoulder, beside your neck, straight down to the floor.
  3. That number in inches is your ideal length. If it falls between two sizes, take the longer one.

What size abaya should I get if I wear heels?

Add the height of your heel. Most heels add around two inches, which usually means going up one size. Our Find my size tool on every product page has an “I’ll wear heels” option that does this for you.

Should an abaya touch the floor?

It is personal. Ankle length is the most practical for everyday wear and walking outside. A floor-skimming length looks more formal for weddings, nikahs and Eid. If you are unsure, ankle length is the safer choice.

What size does the AMIRIS model wear?

Our model is 5ft3 and wears M | 54 for an ankle-length fit.

Do your sizes run true?

Yes. Every AMIRIS piece is made to the lengths on our size chart, so we recommend ordering your normal size. If you want a second opinion, email amiris.info@gmail.com with your height and we will tell you which length to choose.
